"We should go to the movies sometime," Roi had said nonchalantly, like it was the most common thing in the world.
I glanced at her. Inner-Anne was screaming, "Hell, yeah! Anytime! Bring it!"
What came out instead was a small smile and me saying, "Sure. Just send a text."
So on a Wednesday, Haymarie, Roi, Albert and I went to see The Avengers. There had been a lot of hype about it, and while I wasn't a die-hard fan, I was quite curious to see how the movie would turn out.
Well, I probably wouldn't want to watch 3D movies for a while now though. Those glasses just keep slipping down my flat nose.
I wasn't disappointed by the movie. The effects were brilliantly done. Pacing was there, dialogue was concise and humorous at times. It was nice to see all the heroes gathering and fighting evil out of the sky - I never realized those singular movies like Captain America and Iron Man would link up to this.
I laughed so hard during one of the scenes that the popcorn went tumbling down my jacket.
P/S : My favorite character is Hawkeye, because male archers are sexy.
Even though he probably has something complicated going on with the Black Widow.
:)
The only thing that left me screaming afterwards was the price of the movie.
Twenty dollars for a 3D movie.
TWENTY DOLLARS. Don't even get the converting started.
Oh, well.
I'm glad I wasn't the one who paid. Thank you, Albert.
The Hunger Games came on the Sunday after that. Roi, Haymarie and I charged into Hoyts, puffing and hoping we wouldn't miss the beginning.
We bought a huge tub of popcorn from the counter before rushing into the cinema. We could finish it - or so we thought.
The movie itself was pretty good - though I disliked the beginning, because they filmed it in the "shaky" way - y'know, the way they filmed that particular movie where aliens came to invade...? Yeah, didn't like that because it made me dizzy. The act of me stuffing down popcorn wasn't helping the nausea either. I had to close my eyes and take deep breaths. How pathetic, Anne. That explains why you suck at Halo 3 so much.
Eventually these scenes ended, and I could finally focus on the storyline. I hadn't read the book for a long time, so my memories of certain characters were fuzzy. Still, I liked who they picked as the actors/actresses. The setting, story and characters were portrayed beautifully in an eerie way. Yeah, no regrets, none indeed.
The movie finally ended after two and a half hours.
And we had barely touched the popcorn.
...
So, which movie's next? As of now, I have no idea.
Dark Shadows? Grey? Men in Black Three? Well, we'll see.
